I’m currently ‘resting’ having recently completed the sale of my last investment (a highly specialised engineering business). With a management education in both Europe and theUSA, I’ve worked in manufacturing, distribution and retail across both industrial and consumer sectors for British, Anglo-Dutch, American and Japanese multinationals. I’ve run businesses across a wide variety of sectors. Subsequently, I’ve achieved success as a self-employed consultant, business coach and non-executive, gaining detailed experience of the SME sector. I’ve bought and sold a large number of companies using leveraged debt and also founded, built and sold my own successful business.
There were great successes and the odd dismal failure along the way. It’s taught me a great deal and I’d now like to share some of this experience. A lot of the stuff on this blog relates solely to business owners and entrepreneurs but much is also relevant to managers and directors in companies large and small. Some views are original; some are personal experience of putting the techniques of well-known gurus into practice, some are commonsense and some are controversial. Most of the time it was fun but all of the time it was a great learning experience.
From time to time I may choose to stray from the core subject into topical, controversial or simply areas that just interest me.
Feel free to comment – I’m still anxious to learn.
